Guardian sketch
Was enjoying some time on the back patio doodling in the sketchbook earlier this evening and wound up sketching Guardian from Marvel Comics’ Alpha Flight. Not exactly the best illustration ever, but it was fun to draw outside the safe-zone of my normal style.
Clearly Canada Day is on my mind, eh?

Carter the Baseball illustrated by hand
I flaked on getting this week’s webcomic fan art ready, so instead I decided to post a sketch of one of the characters from my comic strip, Small Market Sports.
I normally create Small Market Sports from a bank of pre-existing vector artwork that only requires placing, sizing, and tweaks to facial expressions to complete. Recently, I’ve begun doodling the characters by hand, trying to familiarize myself with them on a more artistic level. I thought it’d be fun to share one of the sketches.
What do you think? Not as slick as the vector artwork, I’ll admit, but not too shabby.

Dante from Barry T. Smith's Angst Technology and Inktank webcomics
This week’s fan art is my take on everyone’s favourite coffee swillin’, cigarette smokin’ webcomic character from the awe inspiring Barry T. Smith’s gut-busting webcomics Inktank and Angst Technology.
Way back a million years ago when the Interwebs was still displayed on cave walls and I first dipped my foot in the webcomic pool, Barry was kind enough to feature my comic on his site. To say it put my fledgling work in front of many new readers would be an understatement (many thanks, Barry!)
If for some reason you aren’t currently reading Inktank (or the Angst Technology archives), pour a fresh cup of joe (the good kind, not anything that tastes like crytalized ass) and treat yourself to a webcomic that truly will make you laugh. Out loud. And spit that coffee all over your monitor. Seriously.

Hank and Tony from Chris M. Cantrell's Please Rewind
This week’s webcomic fan art is of the main characters in Chris M. Cantrell’s hilarious video store-based comic strip, Please Rewind.
It degenerated into a potty gag (doesn’t it always with me?) I know, I’m sorry. But it’s the argument that will stand the test of time for this movie-goer: give in to the gallon of Mountain Dew I haphazzardly consumed during the movie and miss the ending, or watch the end of the 2.5 hour epic and risk some sort of permanent bladder damage. It’s a tough call.

Fan Art featuring the cast of the webcomic That'd Be Sweet!
It’s Friday and you know what that means… webcomic fan art! Following the trend of chosing the work of cartoonists who follow me (and/or I follow) on Twitter, this week I chose to draw the characters from the webcomic That’d Be Sweet, created by the team of Guy Flannigan and Kip O’Neil, which recently celebrated it’s first year online. Congrats, guys!

Regis and Steve of The Drunken Fools
This week’s fan art is of characters Regis and Steve from the online comic The Drunken Fools by fellow Montrealer, Antoine Gagnon. Of course, when I tweeted the artwork (and even tweeted ABOUT it yesterday), I mistakenly labelled it as BILLY & Steve. Sorry about that, Antoine!
I seriously need to stop this love affair with my own name. It’s creepy! I mean, everywhere I go, there I am… stalking myself.
